Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while sharing the roadmap for Digital India, will unveil various e-governance schemes such as Digital Locker, e-education and e-health at the Digital India Week, beginning on July 1.
The big-ticket launch of the Rs 1.13 lakh crore Digital India project will witness participation from over 10,000 guests. “We have invited people from the field of technology, people working for common service centres, students and IT ministers from across the country. The huge crowd will be a representation of technical empowerment of people,” Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Saturday.
Asked about the absence of technology giants such as Microsoft, Facebook and Google at the event, Mr. Prasad said the ministry had reached out to Bill Gates and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella along with Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy, however, they will not be able to make it due to prior engagements.
